Dear Friends,
As president of the Humane Society of Levy County, Inc., I would like to thank all the sponsors who made the “Bark-N-Purr “Charity Concert a successful event. In addition, I would like to thank all those who
volunteered their time to make this event an accomplishment. The community was pleased with the Humane Society in securing number one country album
selling Capital Records Nashville Artist Chris Cagle to Levy County. Our community along with visitors from outlying areas such as Gainesville, Tampa,
Miami, and Ohio were able to enjoy a wonderful day of activities. The occasion was possible by through generous sponsorship and support of those here in Levy County. In addition, K-Country 93.7 and WCJB-TV20 were essential in promoting
our event. Due to the success of the event, we are making this into an annual event for years to come. Currently, we are in the planning stages
for the “Second Annual Bark-N-Purr Charity Concert – BBQ Cook-Off & More”. The Humane Society is currently taking sponsorships to bring more entertainers
to Levy County.
All proceeds raised goes toward the Humane Society of Levy County, Inc. to
build a facility in Bronson to help educate and provide low cost spay/neuter for the citizens of Levy and surrounding counties.
It's no great secret
that pets bring a healing that no DOCTOR can provide. It's no great secret
that YOUR help will save the unwanted pets! We encourage everyone
to come and support our efforts and enjoy a fun and entertaining day.  Some
of the events we are having is a sanctioned BBQ Cook-Off with the Florida
BBQ Association. The Florida BBQ Association has more than 60 teams
throughout Florida and a
majority
will be here competing for Grand and
Reserve Champion. The attendees will get to enjoy a close-up look at a
cook-off as seen on television shows like the Food Network. The teams will
also be selling their great cooking for those who would like to taste.
We will also have live
musical performances from locals.
Please note all events are
subject to change. Updates will done periodically to the schedule as needed.
 Other performances
include a high flying, amazing Frisbee entertainers Disc-Connected K-9. Their
live performance will have you in awe of how this dog can run and catch
Frisbees while tappin your feet to music. You won't want to see it just
once...We will also be
featuring Levy County's K-9 Unit. They are some of bravest and hardest
working unit of the Levy County Sheriffs office. They work 12 hr shifts with
their handler and help sniff out drugs, and criminal apprehension.
 In
addition, we will feature the Humane Society of the United States
with a modern, well-equipped fleet of
self-sufficient response vehicles, including a command center with satellite
communication, mobile animal shelters and climate-controlled transport
trailers, veterinary equipment, boats, all-terrain vehicles and support
vehicles—all stocked with appropriate animal handling gear and supplies.
The vehicles can house several HSUS NDART™ members and carry
humane handling, trapping and sheltering equipment for large and small
animals; safety and rescue gear; and communications equipment, including
Internet access, telephones, radios and a cross-band repeater to support
interoperability between radio systems. The vehicles also stock sufficient
food, fuel and water to accomplish the first 72 hours of any missionA Classic
Car Show will be on hand as well. So come out and see if your
favorite muscle car is represented.
The Humane Society will
have a live auction as well.
For children, we have
numerous games and activities like an inflatable obstacle course and slide,
games and snow will be falling in Bronson.
